March 14, 2008 1:06 am

So even though I havent been doing to well on the entries front (talking a laptop to South America to fix that), I’ve gotten plenty of pictures up.  Take a look at me in front of cool stuff in the following places:

Singapore - Singapore

Indonesia - Bukit Luwang, Medan, Paulu Weh, Lake Toba

Malaysia - Malaka, Kuala Lumpur, Penang

Oh, and Sri Lanka was back there too if anyone missed those.

Adam’s Peak, Sri Lanka - 5-2-0-0 Steps…

Negombo, Sri Lanka - CouchSurfing

There is a relatively new traveling phenomenon, forwarded by websites such as CouchSurfing.com and HospitalityClub.org, that opens new avenues for meeting people and experiencing a country.  The way it works is this: you have a free spot where someone could pass the night, (eg: a room, a couch, the floor) you list it online along with some personal information, and those passing through your neighborhood might send you a message to take you up on the offer.  Even those who don’t have place to offer can still sign up to grab coffee of a drink with people passing by.  The “CouchSurfing” community was growing large in Atlanta when I left, and this seems to be the year that it is spreading around the world.  It was in this way that I spent my first night in Sri Lanka.
